Senior Mathematician

The Senior Mathematician designs, simulates, and balances the mathematical models behind Stakelogic’s slot games, covering the full portfolio from classic titles to complex, feature-rich products.

Working closely with the Game Design team, the role turns creative concepts into mathematical models that deliver the intended gameplay, meet commercial objectives, and comply with certification requirements. The Senior Mathematician takes ownership of assigned titles from the initial feasibility assessment through to regulatory submission.

The role also provides a final review of the team’s mathematical output, checking models for accuracy, identifying gaps in game design, and recommending adjustments to ensure models meet their intended design goals.

Essential Duties

Design, balance, and simulate mathematical models for slot games of varying complexity, taking full ownership of assigned titles from concept through to certification.
Run statistical simulations to verify RTP, volatility, hit frequency, and feature trigger rates against design targets, including rare and edge-case outcomes.
Tune win distribution, feature pacing, and session shape to improve the player experience without compromising mathematical integrity or target RTP.
Review early concepts with Game Design to assess mathematical feasibility and identify potential risks.
Contribute to concept discussions by proposing mechanics and feature structures based on mathematical analysis and player knowledge.
Produce clear, standardised mathematical documentation and PAR sheets suitable for server developers and certification bodies.
Ensure models meet regulatory and certification requirements across all target jurisdictions and remain up to date with changing requirements.
Maintain version control and a clear audit trail for every model, simulation, and adjustment.
Review colleagues’ models and documentation for accuracy and adherence to studio standards before submission.
Mentor less experienced Mathematicians and contribute to shared standards, templates, and tools.
Work closely with Development and QA to confirm models are implemented correctly and resolve differences between design intent, model output, and in-game behaviour.

Qualifications & Requirements

Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or a comparable quantitative subject, or equivalent practical experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a quantitative role, including at least 3 years building and balancing slot game mathematical models.
Strong knowledge of probability theory, combinatorics, and statistics as applied to stochastic models, including RTP, hit frequency, volatility, standard deviation, and feature frequency.
Advanced Excel skills, including linked formulas and probability calculations. Excel is the required submission format for certification.
Programming ability in at least one of C++, C#, or Python for simulation and verification, including the ability to read, adapt, and extend existing simulation code as well as develop new code.
Strong understanding of modern slot mechanics, including Free Spins, Hold & Win, Cash Collect, Cluster Pays, Tumble and Cascade mechanics, Ways and Megaways-style engines, Multipliers, and Bonus Buy features.
Working understanding of multi-jurisdiction certification requirements, including test house requirements and supporting documentation.
Ability to clearly explain complex mathematical concepts to designers, developers, producers, and commercial stakeholders.
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to manage iterative testing and validation across multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Skills & Experience

Experience using Python for simulation, analysis, and automation alongside a compiled programming language.
Direct experience preparing submissions for MGA, UKGC, AGCO/Ontario, KSA, Italy, Romania, or Greece.
Experience working with testing laboratories such as GLI, BMM, iTech Labs, or eCOGRA.
Understanding of RNG behaviour and its implications for mathematical model design.
Experience using Git or comparable version control systems.
Experience with post-launch performance analysis, comparing live GGR, session, and feature data against modelled expectations and using findings to inform future game design.
Awareness of competitor portfolios and emerging slot mechanics.
Experience mentoring or conducting peer reviews within a quantitative team.
